Pan De Jamon

This is a Venezuelan dish that mom used to make for us as an appetizer or,  just because we are craving some delicious pastry. I made this for my father in law’s birthday, and wrote his name on it. Let’s cook together and have some fun! 🙂
This Recipe make a large Pan De Jamon.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup softened Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Yeast
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup warm Milk
  • 300 g Ham or Turkey breast
  • 400 g Mixed Cheese (Mozarella, Cheddar)
  • Sliced Olives
  • Capers

Making the Pan de Jamon

I started by proofing my yeast. I added the yeast to the warm milk together with the sugar and kept aside for 10 minutes.  I mixed my all purpose flour, butter, egg, sugar, and salt in the bowl of my stand mixer and them added the yeast mixture and beat on medium speed until I got a smooth dough (add some warm water if needed while kneading). I let my dough rest covered for around 30 minutes.
After the 30 minutes passed, I rolled my dough to make a large rectangle, and started placing my turkey slices first. Then i topped them with my cheese mix,
next i added the olive slices and finally sprinkled some capers on top.
Once done, I rolled back my dough like a Swiss roll and made sure to close the edges. I brushed the top with some milk and then baked it in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius for around 35 minutes or until it became golden brown.

We enjoyed it warm and was approved delicious by the entire family, adults and kids.

Enjoy yours! 🙂
