Fasolia (Beans in Red Sauce)

My husband and I had a contest, who makes the better Fasolia. Here’s the thing, and I am not trying to make excuses, but it’s one of 4 recipes he use to make on a regular basis before we got married. He won. The following is his delicious recipe. Let’s cook together and have some fun! 🙂

This recipe makes 4 portions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of White Beans
  • 1 can of Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Medium Minced Onion
  • 2 Minced Jalapenos
  • 3 crushed Garlic Cloves
  • 1/3 of a Bunch of Cilantro (Minced)
  • Neutral Oil
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Crushed Red pepper

Making the Fasolia

I started by cooking the onions and the jalapenos with the salt, pepper and cinnamon powder in a large pan until the onions became translucent. I then added the garlic and the cilantro and cooked everything together until the garlic’s color started to become very slightly brown. I then added the tomato sauce to stop the garlic from cooking cooked for about 5 more minutes. I added around half a cup of water and let the sauce simmer. I finally added the beans and cooked everything together for about 10 more minutes.

I served white rice along side the Fasolia. My husband also like to add some hot sauce with it. We love this dish and would love for everyone to try it and let us know what they think.

Enjoy! 🙂
